Real’s Obituary
With profound sorrow and great sadness that we announced the untimely demise of Real Gauvin, mostly known to most as “Kuya Ray” (Big brother) on Feb 14, 2025 at Saint John Regional Hospital. Ray was the son of Jeanne Cyr and Pius Gauvin from Sainte Anne, Madawaska.
He will be sadly missed by his loving Wife Nelida and his brothers and sisters Guy, Realla, Edwina, Roger, Dorina, Tina, Irma, Alfreda, Cyr, and Serge and, his Son Ricky Roderick Gauvin and Daughter Sharon Gauvin Moya, Jorge Moya (husband) and grandchildren Juan Diego Moya and Aria Wynne Moya.
Ray was born on October 31, 1947 in Saint Anne, Madawaska, NB,and spent most of his childhood there. Then he left for Connecticut to work for the company Pepin Brothers as a steel construction supervisor. From there he met his Wife Nelida who worked as a nurse in CT in 1984. They got married on March 17 the same year. Ray had an accident that broke his neck and would end his working career as a steel supervisor and spent most of his 8 years in rehab and therapy in Massachusetts to reach his desired activities of daily living. From there Ray and Nelida decided to move back to Canada and reside in Grandfalls, NB on September 28, 1991 to come closer to his family where he spent most of his wonderful, smart, comfortable life while he was surrounded by family in-laws Rosalind and Neo with Adrian and Irene Rose, Jemel and Maricor with Kianne Mathea. Despite of his disabilities, He was always very positive and very optimistic person. A very sharp man if one would have known him.
Ray loved to spend his time watching Fox on TV and always very updated in current world events and news He loved watching his favorite hockey Team the Montreal Canadians, and even watch a replay over and over the next morning. He was loved and highly respected by the filipino communities in New Brunswick and the neighboring state of Maine, as he was dubbed as “Kuya”. He was always fond of friends coming to visit him as he rarely goes out to see the outside. He was able to go to the Philippines just for a short period of time.
