We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Randy Lotz. Randy showed courage and determination in his battle with pancreatic cancer. He lived life to the fullest throughout his illness, travelling to Florida, Mexico, Arizona, Jamaica, British Columbia, and Alberta.
Randy is survived by his beloved wife, Linda (Myers); his adored children, Brian (Brittany) and Jenny (Wouter), with whom he shared a deep and loving bond; and his cherished grandchildren, Damien, Dakota and Denver Lotz, and Sofia and Oliver Cleef. He is also survived by his siblings; Wayne (Sue) Lotz, Deb Harvey, Brad (Cindi) Lotz, and Kim (Paul) Graham; sisters-in-law, Barb (Bruce) Heibein and Carolyn Rotteau; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ken and Eldene Lotz; his parents-in-law, Bob and Lil Myers; and brothers-in-law, Dave Harvey and Shawn Rotteau.
Randy was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures – good company, a cold beer in hand, and a good tune playing in the background. After 35 years of working with Festival Hydro, he embraced the freedom of early retirement with open arms and an open road ahead. He loved the great outdoors. Whether tearing through snowy trails on his snowmobile or casting a line into quiet waters on a fishing trip with the guys, Randy was in his element. Those adventures—full of laughter, a little mischief, and stories that only got better with time—became legendary among his crew. Randy had a deep appreciation for the beauty around him. He found peace in nature—whether camping with family at Miller Lake, relaxing at McCreary’s Beach resort, or cottaging and soaking in Lake Huron’s sunsets hand-in-hand with his wife. Randy enjoyed coaxing vibrant Baltimore Orioles and Cardinals to visit his backyard. He found great joy in gardening, lovingly cultivating a beautiful, tranquil oasis that brought peace to his days and admiration from all who visited. He also loved touring in his convertible, exploring peaceful country roads and winding along scenic shorelines with his wife, always taking in the beauty of the natural world around him. He was happiest in moments of connection—shooting the breeze with friends, sharing a laugh that came from the belly, or simply soaking in the music of the moment.
A good conversation over a cold one was his kind of perfect. But more than anything, Randy treasured his family; his heart belonged to them. His five young grandchildren brought a unique and special joy into his life. For the past 12 years, he and his wife found a slice of paradise on Anna Maria Island, Florida—a place of sun, sea, and soul-restoring relaxation—shared with lifelong friends, Cathy and Brian. It became a cherished tradition, a reflection of the life he built: simple, rich, and full of love. Randy lived life fully and freely, guided by laughter, loyalty, and the kind of spirit that leaves a lasting mark on everyone lucky enough to know him. Let’s raise a glass and give a cheer to a man we hold so very dear.
Many thanks for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Randy by the teams at London Health Science Centre, Stratford General Hospital Cancer Centre, and CarePartners. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our wonderful family and friends for your support, kindness, and generosity throughout this difficult journey.
