Obituary For Ralph Lawrence RiChard
August 9, 1936 – January 29, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather Ralph L. RiChard in Grande Prairie, Alberta, at the age of 88.
Ralph grew up on the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement, farming with his brothers and sisters and working the land. His early adult years involved work in construction, operating heavy equipment and helping to build the Hudson Hope Dam, Alaska Highway, and Dunvegan Bridge. In 1960, Ralph married and began a family, moving to B.C. and beginning a career in employment consulting. In his later years Ralph moved his family back to his generational home of Paddle Prairie. His life then revolved around his love for music, especially with his family, spending time with his grandchildren, and attending community events. Ralph’s hobbies were many and included fishing, travelling, stargazing, aviation, maintaining and decorating his yard and, most close to his heart – music.
Ralph is survived by his loving spouse of 64 years, Mary, his children Dean, Sonya, Ralph Jr. (Delphine), Noella, and Dawn. He will be forever loved by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will also be missed by his brothers Elmer and Donald, and his sisters Margaret and Yvonne.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Canadian Lung Association in Ralph’s memory.
A Celebration of Life for Ralph will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00 am. Prayer of the Rosary will begin at 10:30 am at the Paddle Prairie Christ The King Catholic Church in Paddle Prairie, Alberta. Interment to follow at the Paddle Prairie Cemetery, and lunch will be provided afterwards at the Paddle Prairie Communiplex.
