Phyllis’ Obituary
Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the age of ninety-five. Phyllis was born April 19, 1930, to Hubert and Edna Topper at the family home in St. James Parish, Jamaica. She is the fourth of six children.
Beloved mother to Jeff (Kathy) of Alberta, Jon (Kris) of Montana, Jim (Sue) of B.C. and Lorraine of Ontario. Grandmother to three granddaughters and five grandsons, great grandmother to one great granddaughter and six great grandsons. She will be missed by nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Her backyard was her haven as she enjoyed picking raspberries, growing vegetables and garlic in her garden. Beautiful flowers encircled her home. The kitchen was her sandbox. Always making food from scratch, going right down the basics of grinding her own flour before making her bread. Her table was always full for lunch after church on the weekends. Tasty food and good company – chop stick casserole and date squares were her guests’ favorites.
Phyllis was a devoted follower of Jesus. She was communicating with him daily through prayer. She would regularly get up in the stillness of the night to read her bible and pray. Her relationship with her heavenly father shined through her life, actions and how she treated others. Generous to all who came to her door.
Join us in celebrating Phyllis’ life at the Dwayne D. Budgell Funeral Home, 1105 Rest Acres Rd., Paris, Ontario on Sunday, August 24, 2025. Friends will be welcomed from 2 to 4 pm. Service will be held at 4 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. In Phyllis’ memory, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
