Died peacefully on Monday May 12, 2025, at the Stayner Care Centre at the age of 92. Philomena, formerly of Wasaga Beach, beloved wife of the late James Murphy. Loving mother of Frances (Rick Thomas), Philomena (Meena) Murphy, Annette Murphy (Ratko deceased) Tony (Jeannine) and Daniel (Evalee) and the late James. Cherished grandmother of Erin, Amber (Andrew), Clinton (Elodie), Shannon(Jamie), James (Justine), Dana (James), Roya, Kerry, April (Filip), the late Gareth, and the late Siobhán. Great grandmother of Dalyce, Grayson, Ruby, Zachary, Ophelia, Penelope, Violet, Emilee, Cooper, Katie, Finn, Owen, Austin, Ayden, Emilee, Ty, Drew, and Frances, and great-great grandmother of Jack. Predeceased by her siblings, she will be forever cherished as a loving aunt by her many nieces and nephews from Ireland, England and Australia.
Philomena was a feisty Irish lass who loved and cherished her family and her community. She enjoyed Bingo, playing cards, crocheting and everything Christmas. She was a woman of strong Catholic faith. Philomena was kind, generous, and loved by all who knew her. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff at the Stayner Care Centre.
Friends will be received by her family at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach on Thursday May 22, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. The Memorial Mass will be held at St. Noel Chabanel Catholic Church, 133 Dunkerron Avenue, Wasaga Beach on Friday May 23, 2025, at 1 o’clock. Reception to follow. Interment Our Lady of Assumption Cemetery, Brentwood. If desired, a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Salvation Army would be appreciated by Philomena’s family.
