Obituary of Peter Burns
Peter Burns
January 3, 1969-May 6, 2025
It is with the heaviest of hearts and profound sadness that the family of Peter Ralph Burns announces his sudden passing on May 6, 2025 at the age of 56.
He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, best friend and soul mate Elizabeth Cauchi, his sons Ryan Burns, Jacob (Alexandra) Carter, Matthew Burns and Lucas Carter.
He will be dearly missed and affectionately remembered as “Sweet Pete” by his mother Mary- Sue Burns, his brothers Ryan (Amy) Burns, Rob (Deborah) Burns, and his sister Jane Burns (Richard Branch). Peter is predeceased by his father Toby Burns.
Peter will be sadly missed by parents-in-law Anthony (Carmen) Cauchi, his brother-in-law Winston (Jodi) Cauchi and his sister-in-law Alexandria (Cory) Reardon.
Peter will also be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and colleagues. He will also, be missed by his beloved cats.
Peter was born in Bathurst, NB. As a child he was an accomplished hockey player and swimmer. He played in a couple of bands as a very talented drummer. He had a passion for music, taught himself how to play guitar and knew every lyric and song to be had. He was constantly serenading Liz and his cats with his own lyrics he would make up in the spur of the moment. Peter also had a passion for motorcycling, fishing and rock collecting.
Peter was a Veteran and member of the Canadian Armed Forces. He was on the elite SSF OSONS. Peter was stationed in Cyprus and Germany as an active peacekeeper and also was involved in the domestic peacekeeping during the OKA crisis.
Peter worked in the mining industry, he was a hardworking and dedicated employee of Carmeuse Lime for 20 years. He worked for a short duration in underground mining. Peter was a natural born leader, mentor and teacher to those around him. He was always lending a helping hand when called upon.
The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this extremely difficult time.
