Peter’s Obituary
The family of Peter Hoffe are heartbroken to announce his sudden and unexpected passing at home on January 1, 2025.
Born November 5, 1946 at Change Islands, Peter spent his childhood and youth on the island that always owned a piece of his heart. During his teen years Peter moved to Millertown, NL where his family took on new ventures. He completed his trade as a heavy duty mechanic, initially working at Buchans Esso then later having a full career with Abitibi Price. Anyone who knew him, knew of his strong work ethic, hard working hands, kindness and desire to help anyone who needed a hand. After a short retirement, he finished out his career working at Duck Pond Mines. As a young man, he met and married the love of his life Donna and together they created a beautiful life that tackled all the ebbs and flows of living. Family was everything and together Peter and Donna created a loving and supportive home for their three children and anyone else that came through their door. Later years brought him his biggest pleasure in filling the role of “Poppy”. It was the absolute joy of his life to spend time with and keep up to date with the happenings of his six grandchildren. They were his pride and joy and his love was fierce.
Peter was predeceased by parents Lewis and Frances Hoffe, In-laws, Harold and Dorothy Somers.
Leaving to mourn with the happiest memories are his true love, Donna; children, Sherri (Stephen) Ricketts, Lance (Alison) Hoffe, Aaron (Michelle) Hoffe; grandchildren, Nicole, Rachel, Alex, Kaylee, Hendric and Grayson; siblings, Mildred Hoffe, Joan (Wilfred) Coish, Ruby Barnes (Stanley Jenkins), Margaret (Jim) Pearson, Bruce (Faye ‘deceased’) Hoffe, Dennis (Maude) Hoffe; brothers-in-law, Glen (Mary) Somers, Fred (Janet) Somers, Wayne (Shelley) Somers, Bruce (Glenora) Somers, David (Karen) Somers; nieces, nephews and many special friends who all held a special place in his heart.
Visitation will take place Friday, January 3, 2025 at 6:20-7:30 pm from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.
