Peter Frank Dornhoff passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 19th, 2025 at the age of 63. Beloved husband of Denise Dornhoff (nee Kennette) of 30 years, and loving father of Lukas (Tori), Erik (Monika) and Kaitlyn. Predeceased by his father Heinz Dornhoff (1995) and his mother Hildegard Dornhoff (nee Brzoska, 2013). Dear brother of Susan Elliott (David) and Rudy (2017; Vera). Caring Uncle of Christina, Katherine (2018), Iain, Jessica, Paige, Sierra, Ella, and Owen. Peter will also be greatly missed by many relatives and friends.
Peter was a Hydro One Electrical Regional Maintainer for over 36 years. During his career, Peter took on many roles representing Members including Joint Health & Safety Representative, Chief Steward, and after retirement in 2018, he joined the PWU’s Retired Workers’ Chapter as a Board Member.
Outside of being a union electrical legend, Peter was an avid gardener, fisherman, movie lover (Marvel, 007, Star Trek, and Indiana Jones to name a few), and enjoyed camping, playing corn hole, tennis, and most recently lawn bowling. He was a friend to all animals but especially to past pets, Cheetah, Jordon, Krystal and currently Stan Lee. He was a master Euchre player and a diehard Scrabble champion. But above all, he cherished his family – it did not matter what they were doing, as long as they were together creating memories.
Memorial Service will be held at Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre 21 First St Orangeville, Ontario on Monday, August 25th, 2025 at 3:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations to the Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Animal Centre or the Orangeville Food Bank would be appreciated by the family.
A tree will be planted in memory of Peter in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville.
