It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of Pauline. She was surrounded by her loving family on February 21, 2025 at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, at 70 years of age. Beloved wife of Richard for 49 years. Loving mother of Dr. Allison Morand (Dr. David Huffman), Derrick Nantais and mother-in-law of Dr. Jean-Paul Morand. Pauline was a proud and adoring Mim of Rowan and Ben Morand. She was a mother figure to Greg McFall. Daughter of the late Fermus (1974) and Emma (1989) Diotte. Cherished sister of Stanley (2023) (Judy, late Geraldine, 2003), Leona Dupuis (2011) (Marvin, 2001), Bernice (1936), Lawrence (2023)(Marilyn, 2022), Francis (Jeanette, 2022), Lorraine Janisse (Louis, 2012), Annette DiCarlo (Joe), Carol Brush (Irvin, 2013), Leonard (Anne), Clarence (Donna), Roy, Bernard (1975), Donald (1951), Jan Prisley (Dale, late Doug Thompson, 1977), Julie Bellemore, and Dennis (2013) (Rose). Daughter-in-law of the late William (2018) and June Nantais (2024). Dearest sister-in-law of Barbara (Mike), the late Jerry (Cheryl), Debbie (Bernie), Roslynn (Ian), Connie (Rick), Jeff (2024)(Diane) and Pam (Bill). Adored by her many nieces and nephews.
Many don’t even know her as Pauline as she was Mim or Pa to many generations of children in LaSalle and Chatham (or Chicken Mim to those even closer to her). Whether it was a pizza at Halloween, soup when ill, jam strips when stressed or 7-layer Jello for cousins’ day, her love was always present. A woman who never missed a graduation, wedding or family event will be missed on every occasion. Her faith and spirituality were cornerstones of her character and her acceptance of real world challenges serves as an example to us all. Her life with Rick defined true love and together they taught the beauty of genuine unconditional love to others.
Mim was Mim, and we are all better for having had her in our lives.
If you so desire, donations to the Chatham-Kent Hospice would be greatly appreciated. A special thanks to Dr.’s Segeren, Newell, Tran, and the Emergency and ICU Teams for their care and compassion.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. at Families First, 3260 Dougall Avenue, South Windsor (519-969-5841). Funeral Mass details are not confirmed. Cremation to follow.
