We, the family, are deeply saddened and regret to share our loss that Paulette Rose Forbes died peacefully on January 12, 2025, in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
Paulette was born at home in Beaver River, on January 7, 1952 to the late William S. Maillet and late Laurenza (Laura) nee Potel, Maillet.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, John Forbes, of Yarmouth and their son, John (Lisa), and their granddaughter, Evelie Rose, of British Columbia. She is also survived by siblings: Raymond (Verna), Irene, Yvonne (Larry) Knowles, Paul, Bernard, Martin (Tanya), Nelson, Linda (Robert) Long, Conrad (Mhairi), Annette, Russell (Tami), Alexander, and Leo. She also loved her many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Paulette will be greatly missed. She was a teacher in western Canada and was so eager to retire and move back to her home in Yarmouth to be close to her family. It’s incredibly difficult, to sum up the love and care she had for her family and friends.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. She was a strong supporter of palliative care. So in lieu of flowers, donations in Paulette’s memory may be made to palliative care or to fund a cure for cancer.
A funeral Mass will be held on January 23 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church, Melbourne. Following the mass a reception will be held at the Melbourne Community Center at 11 a.m.
We gratefully thank everyone (too numerous to mention all by name) who helped Paulette and also helped us over our sudden loss with many acts of kindness, support and care.
Special mention to Charles of Sweeney’s Funeral Home, Ambulance workers, 911, Fire department, medical staff in the E.R., ICU and Clergy members.
We especially Thank God for giving us Paulette for 73 years and five days.
