Obituary For Paul Roy
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Roy on Monday, February 3, 2025, in Spirit River, AB, at the age of 92 years.
Paul was born to Emma and Achille in St Jean Baptiste, Manitoba, on October 5, 1932. He lived a long and cherished life, working in oil and gas, driving School bus and raising his family on the farm in Gordondale, AB. We could never forget his hockey career with the Dawson Creek Canucks that carried many memories and stories along through his hockey legacy.
You could always find Paul working on something in the yard, helping with the garden, watching a hockey game on tv or simply flipping through the farmer’s almanac or Princess Auto flyer with a coffee in hand. To know Paul, you knew that bright, friendly smile that would light up any room. He was hardworking, quick-witted and always shared a helping hand. His exceptional work ethic was highlighted in his work and also in his trophy case as Paul ‘Zip Zip’ Roy was named the leagues’ MVP numerous times throughout his career as well as the ‘Most Gentlemanly Player.’ His love and dedication to his family was unwavering, and these traits grew strong in the ones he left behind.
Paul is survived by his wife, Lorraine; sons: Dean, Perry (Michelle) and Danny (Bev); grandchildren: Dustin, Chelsea, Ryley (Cait), Samantha (Blake), Meagan (Curtis), Teri (Devin) and Colby; along with ten great-grandchildren, and many friends who loved him dearly.
He will be forever cherished and remembered for the loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend he was to all.
There will be no formal service at the request of our beloved one.
