Obituary of Patricia Ann Thompson
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Patricia Ann “Patsy” Thompson Age 64, of Spryfield, passed away on March 4, 2025 at Northwood Centre Halifax. She was the daughter of the late Evelyn and Leroy Thompson-David.
Patsy is survived by her; son, Jamaine: daughter, Santina; and son, Carlow; grandchildren, Tyleah, Skye, and Juztyce; siblings, Finnie, Michael, Terry (Vivian), Leonard (June), Paul (Joan), Calvin, Terrance, Darrell (Kelly); sisters, Tracey (Raymond), Velma, Diane (Darren); favourite nephews Big Nathan and the late Lance; Goddaughter, Bree; and Godson, James Black.
Patsy worked at Sobey’s Spryfield for eighteen years. She was well known for her candy dishes in the Griffins Smoke Shop. She was well-loved by her Sobey’s girls – Judy Cosgrove, Jennifer Hartling, Shawna Benoit, Shelly Goyetche, Tricia MacLennan, and Penny Harvey. She worked at the PTA at Rockingstone Heights School and as a lunch monitor at J.L Isley High School. She also volunteered at the Greystone Food Bank.
Patsy loved playing TV bingo, sitting on the front step drinking her coffee, and dancing; especially at the Greystone block party, teaching her daughter and her friends dance routines. She was known for enjoying Double-Double coffees and a honey cruller from Tim’s. Her favorite saying was “comical!”. Special sons, Johnny Bone, Troyce Ashe, Elliott Wilson, Donald Goris, Renee Oliver, David Lemoine, and Jason Hartling will remember Patsy quenching their thirst with her sugary Kool-Aid on a hot summer’s day!
We would like to acknowledge Patsy’s best friends, Shirlene Black, Tammy Black, Elizabeth Gray, Christine James, the late Jeannie Miller, the late Elizabeth Black, and the late Shannon Cluney. Patsy was predeceased by both of her parents; sister, Nellie Thompson; brothers, Kenny Carvery and Dwight Thompson. She will be greatly missed by her many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, Halifax. A Celebration of Life for Patsy will be held at the Spryfield Legion at 7 Sus St, Halifax, on April 12, 2025, from 7 PM- 1 AM.
In Our Hearts
We thought of you today
But that is nothing new
We thought of you yesterday
And days before that too
We think of you in silence
We often speak your name
Now all we have are memories
And your picture in a frame
Your memory is our keepsake
With which we’ll never part
God has you in his keeping
We have you in our heart
