ORMA BARKLEY (Findlay)
We are saddened to announce that on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at the age of 85, Orma Barkley (Findlay) passed away peacefully at Forest Hill Long Term Care Home in Kanata, Ontario. Orma is survived by her sister Betty (late Mac) and sisters-in-law Elaine and Joan. Orma was predeceased by her spouse, Doug Barkley; her sister Gail (Norm) Utman; and brothers Jack (Jean), Mac (Joan), Clarence, Roy (Jessie), and Don Findlay. She will be remembered by many Findlay nieces and nephews and the Barkley and Harper families. Orma was known for her love of family and family lore, her keen interest in people she met, and her appreciation for good clothes, nice things, and a well-kept house. She had a soft spot for babies and the elderly and when she was younger was often called on to babysit her many nieces and nephews. Orma also volunteered for a number of years with Meals on Wheels in Morrisburg. Born in Kinburn, Ontario to Alfred and Margaret (nee Anderson) Findlay, Orma spent her formative years in Winchester, and enjoyed over 58 happily married years in Morrisburg where she met women with whom she would share lifelong friendships. We would like to thank Forest Hill Long Term Care for the care and compassion shown to Orma, particularly in her final days. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at the Springhill Cemetery, 7820 Springhill Rd., Metcalfe, Ontario at 11:00 am on Monday, May, 26. A reception will follow at the Morrisburg Legion, 10 Legion St., Morrisburg, Ontario from 12:00 pm – 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
