Orla Clendining Obituary
Passed away peacefully at Brightshores Health System – Owen Sound on Sunday, February 9, 2025. Born in Steinbach, Manitoba on October 20, 1942, Orla Annie Mary Clendining (nee Unger) of Owen Sound, was in her 83rd year.
Beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Clendining. Loving stepmother of Warren Clendining (Sheila) of Calgary, Alberta, David Clendining (Kerry) of Lac des Loups, Quebec, and Rick Clendining (Barbara) of Port Alberni, British Columbia. Cherished step-grandma of Joel, Kelly, Dylan, Kris, Carissa, Riley, Nathan, Jane, Caleb, Shawn, Gail and Jeremy. Proud step-great-grandmother of 9 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Raymond Unger and Howard Unger. Orla will also be missed by her nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by her parents Peter and Maria Unger, and by her brother Richard Unger.
Orla loved her gardens. You could always see her digging, weeding and planting her creations. Her home likewise was a thing of beauty, everything in its place, beautifully laid out, always ready for company and so welcoming. Her gardens extended to all friends and family; she loved all of them. Should anyone need help, she was there. Should anyone need a quiet listening friend, she was there. She was a councilor, a companion and a friend in hard times or in good times to so many. We all feel a loss at her passing, but we all remember her love.
In keeping with Orla’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
