Olive Edna Hodder Obituary
Olive Edna Hodder
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and sister, Olive Hodder, on May 22, 2025 at the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre in Palliative Care at the age of 73.
Predeceased by father William Thomas Hodder, mother Sarah Myrtle, adopted mother Alice Coombs, sisters Mary (Jack), Selena (Frank) and Evelyn; brothers Cecil (Florence), John (Elizabeth), William, Henry, Rueban and Harvey, brother-in-law Harry as well as cousin Theresa (Dan).
Leaving to mourn her son David and daughters Patricia (Chad) and Kimberly (Corey); Grandchildren Jacob, Thomas and Kai; grand puppy Squiggy. Also, sisters Blanche (Gerald), Ada, Christine (Terry); Brother Charlie (Lori); sister-in-law Sylvia; Aunt Ada (Dave); Special boy Marcus and members of The Griffin Family. And also with loving memories is her adopted family; Judy Barrington, Rose (Leo-Deceased), Joan, Brud and Marg, Sheri (Dean), Mason, Henri, Grayson and Aunt Yvonne as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.
Olive was a kind and loving person who loved her family dearly. She adored all children and they loved her. She had a good sense of humour and loved a bit of fun. Olive loved getting her hair done by her special hair dresser Ethel. She loved going on outings with the family that took her as their own sister. She so enjoyed special suppers at “Nieceys”. She also loved doing puzzles with Aunt Yvonne. Lastly, the person who was her heart, her rock, and her world – her sister Judy. No matter where Olive was, she always looked for Judy. They were always together. Olive and Judy shared a deep bond forged over many years and their friendship brought joy and meaning to both of their lives. “Saying goodbye to a best friend is never easy. The memories remain, but the pain lingers longer.
A very heartfelt thank you to the management and staff of Cambridge Estates, “Newfie Home”. Your care and compassion will forever be etched in our hearts, thank you for treating her like a queen. Special Thanks to her friends at the home. Sincere appreciation to the doctors and staff who have helped Olive over the years.
“She sings a song of hope and cheer. There’s no more pain, no more fear. You’ll see her in the clouds above, hear her whisper winds of love…” ~Christy Ann Martine.
Visitation and service details to be announced.
