After a full life of adventure, commitment to his family, friends, community and the environment we are saddened to announce the passing of Norman J Wingrove on August 6, 2025.
He was Born in Simcoe, Ontario March 26, 1938, and is survived by his loving wife Bernice of 57 years, 3 sisters, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and so many friends and colleagues.
He received many accolades over the years including being recognized by his hometown of Collingwood, Ontario with the Order of Collingwood in 2011 and then again in 2021 with the even higher honour of Companion of the Order of Collingwood. Norm was proud to have a plaque erected in 2020 by the Bruce Trail Conservancy in his name on the section of the Bruce Trail he managed for many years. There were plans in the works to honour Norm once again at his 50 years of dedicated Bruce Trail volunteering at the Dufferin Hi-Land 60th Anniversary event this coming November. (which he was aware of). The environment stood forefront in Norms life where he worked tirelessly with the Blue Mountain Watershed Trust.
Learning to ski much later in life Norm joined the Canadian Ski Patrol System once again dedicating his learned skills to protecting people on the ski hill. Some may even remember his many years of dawning a Santa Suit for Blue Mountain Resorts during the Christmas season and being the most helpful hotel doorman at the Grand Georgian Hotel. He also spent many hours at the Blue Mountain Monterra Golf Course as a Marshall making sure all the golfers behaved.
Attending Blue Jays and Baycats games in the summer and attending local music and vintage car events were often on his very full calendar.
Norm was truly a humble gentle man who only saw the good in people and was committed to Making the world a better place for all. He was loved and respected by so many. I’m sure the environment is thanking you in its own way Norm!!! Thank you for being you!!
Norm’s wishes will be honoured and he will be cremated with no service.
He supported many Organizations including Hospice Georgian Triangle, Georgian Triangle Humane Society, Blue Mountain Watershed Trust and Bruce Trail Conservancy
In lieu of flowers a donation in his memory to any of these would be appreciated.
