FLECK, Norman Edward – With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Norman Fleck on March 18, 2025, after a lengthy illness. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his wife, Micki, his daughter, Jacquie Palys (Darrin), his cherished granddaughter, Hailey, and his faithful feline companion, Felicia. Norman is now reunited in Heaven with the many family members and friends who passed before him.
A hardworking man, Norman spent many years at the Thorold paper mill, only leaving when it closed its doors. In retirement, he embraced the things he loved most—classic cars, NASCAR racing, and woodworking. As a proud member of the Niagara Wood Carvers, he skillfully crafted canes, miniature canoes, and Christmas ornaments, each piece made with care and passion. One of his favorite pastimes was going for a drive with Micki. The two frequently visited Charles Daley Park, where Micki would knit while Norman worked on his latest carving—until it was time to hurry home for the race.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, March 22, at H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a service in the Cudney Chapel at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Norman’s memory may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
