It is with great
sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Fay Morley, in her 98th
year of life, in the morning hours of March 18, 2025. Norma was a
resident of the Kenneth E Spencer Memorial Home, Moncton NB, where she
lived for the past couple of years.
Norma was predeceased
by her parents, Allison and Annie Laurie MacWilliams, and two sisters,
Phyllis (Steve) Bohus and Velma (Shermie) Colwell.
Norma leaves to mourn
her passing: a daughter, Patricia (Patti) Morley, her nieces and
nephews, Richard (Peggy), Candace (Russell), Shelley (Sheldon),
Jeffrey (Betty), and Barry.
Norma was born in
Glenwood PEI and grew up on a small rural farm with her parents and
sisters where she thrived and loved her life. She was a popular girl
in school with her strawberry blonde pigtails and sweet personality.
She was a lover of poetry and music; she played the piano and sang
beautifully. In her 90s she could still recite poetry, and she would
sing her favorite songs daily to the caregivers who took wonderful
care of her.
Norma had a career in
the Oil and Gas sector working for Petro Canada in Toronto for 23
years, working her way up to an Executive Assistant’s
position. She moved to Moncton after she retired.
Norma was a member of
the Moncton Airforce Club, War Veterans, and Legion. She spent most
Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons at one of them dancing for
hours. She was a popular lady and was always ready to trip the light
fantastic.
Norma bought a little
acreage when she retired, and she spent the next 20 years tending to
it. She grew a vegetable garden, had beautiful flowers, and rode her
riding mower well into her late 80s, keeping her yard looking
pristine.
Norma was a lover of
cats and dogs and had many throughout her lifetime. Strays always
found their way to her home.
The family wishes to
offer our heartfelt thanks to the kind and caring staff at Kenneth E
Spencer Memorial Home for the wonderful care that Norma received while
she was living there.
As per
Norma’s wishes, no public funeral service will be held. The
family will have a private graveside service at a later
date.
