In loving memory of Nicholas “Nick” “Nykola” Nykilchuk who passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19th, 2025 at Health Sciences North with his family by his side.
Nick is predeceased by his beloved wife Jean (Mudry) Nykilchuk 2002. Loving father of Michael (Anne) of Erin, Tim (Carol predeceased) of Sudbury, Dan (Sylvie) of Sturgeon Falls, Christine Murphy (Peter) of Brampton and Peter (Lynn) of Lively. Cherished “Gigi” of Alexa, Madison, Kelly, Kristy, Meaghan, Keegan, Griffin, Aidan, Lauren, Peter, Kendra, Kai, Justin and Jessica. Predeceased by his parents Stefan and Iryna Nykilchuk.
He worked at CKSO/MCTV for many years. He was a dedicated member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Church. Nykola was a key member of the Sudbury Branch of the Ukrainian National Federation. As a leader in the UNF he founded the Yarmarok Fall Festival in Sudbury and Summer Ukrainian Festival at Richard Lake. In later years he ran the Garlic Festival along with Slawko Hucal and Mike Sharko. A long-time member of Senior’s Ukrainian Centre.
Resting at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury where friends may gather from 4-8pm Thursday. Panakhyda at 7pm Thursday. Funeral mass at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Church, 40 Notre Dame Ave., Sudbury on Friday, January 24th, 2025 at 10:30am. Interment in the St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery, Oakville on Monday, January 27th, 2025 at 1pm.
