Neil died at age 81 peacefully in Hospice with his beloved daughters, Merinna and Marcy, by his side.
Born in Wheatley Ontario, Neil was the youngest son to a family of 9. Survived by his younger sister Flossy.
Neil joined the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers of the Canadian military, with his mother’s permission, at the age of 17 in London Ontario. Over the years Neil specialized and instructed at CFB Borden on the Leopard tank. He retired after 28 years of service from CFB Toronto Base Maintenance. After retirement from the forces Neil continued to serve the Canadian government at CFB Borden Base Maintenance as a civilian. After 41 years of service to his government Neil was diagnosed with Kidney cancer and fully retired.
During Neils retirement years he continued to serve his community as a volunteer at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie Ontario until he began dialysis in 2018.
Neil enjoyed many trips to Walt Disney World with his wife Penny. He also enjoyed the many cruises they took, especially on Chocolate night.
Neil was a large man with a booming voice and a soft teddy bear center. Besides his daughters and wife, he loved his cats and any small white dog he saw. He was a great Father, husband and citizen.
At Neil’s request there will be no funeral service, but donations can be made in his name to Hospice Simcoe, The Kidney Foundation of Canada or any other charity of your choice.
