Obituary for
Natalie Saganiuk
It is with deep sorrow our family announces that on December 23, 2024, Mrs. Natalie Saganiuk of Edmonton, AB, passed away at the age of 85 years.
Natalie is survived by her children, Rocky (Bonnie) Saganiuk, Sharon (Bill) Michaud, and Allen Saganiuk; grandchildren, Candace, Ryley, Justin, Chantalle, Dexter, and Peter; great-grandchildren, Colby, Willow, and Kaspin; sisters, Jean, and Adele. Predeceased by her husband, Orest (2007); her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Natalie, also known to everyone as “Baba,” was a kind and loving Baba to her grandchildren. Her family and friends recognized her as the “Hostess with the Mostess” when it came to her tasty Ukrainian meals. Baba’s handmade blankets are still in use in hundreds of family homes. She was not a person who liked or drew attention to herself, and our family always honoured Baba’s private nature and soul.
A private Prayer Service was held. Cremation has been entrusted to Park Memorial. In the spring/summer of 2025 a gathering of family and friends is being planned where we will celebrate our mother’s life, then her urn will be placed beside our father, Orest, so they may rest together in peace.
In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, Alberta Cancer Foundation, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton AB T6G 1Z2.
