Nancy Irene Cooke
1940-2025
At the Saint John Regional
Hospital, Saint John NB, surrounded by her loving family on March 2,
2025. Mrs. Nancy Irene (Wilcox) Cooke of Rothsay NB, wife of the late
John Arthur Cooke formally of Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick. Born at
St. Stephen NB on July 19, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Percy
and Elsie (Algar) Wilcox.
A
loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by her sons:
Richard (Sharon) Cooke of Belleville ON and Gordon Cooke of Calgary
AB, her daughters: Patsy Cooke and Cindy (Roy) Steeves both of
Rothesay NB, her beloved grandchildren: Jennifer and Alison Cooke
(Darragh Morris), David Steeves (Ashley Dalton) and Erica Cooke, one
great granddaughter Chloe, her sisters: Pearldena Theriault and Leona
Armstrong both of Blacks Harbour NB and Lilla Lee of St Stephen NB,
her good friend Lynne Dunn of Rothesay NB as well as several nieces,
nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband John she
was predeceased by a son Stephen and her daughter Catherine.
Prior to her retirement Nancy worked for Connors
Brothers in Blacks Harbour for 43 years. She enjoyed doing jig saw
puzzles, playing games, fellowship and just hanging out with her
grandchildren and family. She was known as a connoisseur of good
food. She enjoyed travelling locally, for example during
covid she travelled to visit the various covered bridges in the
province and visiting various ice cream places. She will be sadly
missed by her family and all who knew her.
Arrangements in
the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street,
St. George NB. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday
from 3-5 and 7-9pm. The funeral service will take place from the
chapel on Wednesday at 4pm with Rev. Bill Lea officiating. The
interment will be held in the St. George Rural Cemetery in the spring.
In Nancy’s memory, donations to the Saint John Regional
Hospital Foundation, Palliative Care or a charity of the donors choice
