MURRAY DOUGLAS JACKSON
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of MURRAY DOUGLAS JACKSON, age 93, of Athens, ON (Charleston Lake), who died February 23, 2025, in Brockville General Hospital after a short illness.
Murray was born on September 19, 1931, in Plum Hollow to Ida (nee Hollingsworth) and Mowat Jackson. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lola Jackson and his daughter, Deborah Jackson (Stu Radford); his sons, Barry Jackson (Wendy Hyde) and Darrell Jackson; and his step-daughter Julie McEwen (Todd Arnold).
In 1957, Murray became an A-class mechanic. He worked in his family’s dealership, G.F. Perrin’s Sales and Service, before becoming the proud owner of his own vehicle dealership, Jackson’s Motors, in 1966 in Brockville.
Murray was an avid boater and snowmobiler. He grew up loving boats, cars, trucks, and snowmobiles. He spent many years on Charleston Lake at the family cottage on Goose Island (affectionately known as Perrin Island), where many family memories were made with much fun, laughter, shenanigans, and his 1972 Starcraft boat. Murray loved music, dancing, and playing cards with his wife, Lola, and their friends. He enjoyed travelling throughout Canada, the US, and the Caribbean, whether by car, RV, cruise ship or plane. He loved the adventure.
Murray is survived by his sisters Myrna Brown and Diane Sayeau and his sisters-in-law Lee Perrin and Theresa Jackson. He was an Uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Elmo Jackson and Don Perrin. His former spouses, Dolores Cote and Audrey Jackson (Blaedow), Muriel Bonsteel (Randle), and grandson Danny Bruce.
He is fondly remembered by his grandchildren Jessica Fawley, Jason Allen, Jacob Jackson and Jayme Jackson. It is also important to mention the girls from the blended families: Michelle O’Connor, Angela Kelly, Connie Littlejohn (deceased) and Jean Maisonneuve.
A Celebration of Life will be held later to toast and share the memories and good times. Private arrangements are entrusted to Judson’s Funeral Home, Athens, ON. He will be greatly missed and always in our loving memory.
In memoriams to Maple View Lodge or the Charleston Lake Environmental Association (CLEA) will be gratefully acknowledged by the family. Send a message of condelance, share a thought or make a donation online at www.judsonfuneralhome.ca
