Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at the Health Science Center, St. John’s on Thursday, March 13, 2025, Muriel Y. Davis of Victoria, age 78 years.
Predeceased by, daughter: Cynthia; parents: George and Margaret Pike; sisters: Winnie (Jack) Kelloway, Elva (Charles) Chubbs, Myrtle (Bob) Moore, and Verna (Harry) Moore; brothers: Cyril (Margot), George, Harold (Elsie Manning), and Clifford (Janet).
Leaving to mourn, loving husband of 57 years: Rev. John; son: Robert (Lynnanne); grandchildren: Jonathan (Emily), Joshua (Madison), Nicole (Andrew), Emily, and Sarah; great-grandchildren: Gwen, Theo, and Owen; sister-in-law: Mary Pike; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Muriel was born and raised in Carbonear, she continued her studies obtaining a certificate in accounting and secretarial studies at the trades college. She worked at different positions throughout the years with Social Services and Dept. Of Labor. After taking some time to raise her children she returned to work and finished her career with the School Tax Authority.
She was a member and chair of many boards and committees over the years and was chair of the Avalon North Intergrated School Board for several years.
Always a devoted member of her church, she served as district president of the UCW and is a lifelong member and past president of the Uited Church Presbytery for the region. She was a devoted volunteer for community and church. Most recently on a committee to replace the fence in Park Avenue Cemetery, which she had spent hours of research and work doing.
She accomplished alot in her 78 years but none as great as her family. Family came first with Muriel, she was a devoted wife to John, her husband of 57 years. A loving mother to Robert and Cynthia. A grandmother who showered Jonathon, Joshua, Nicole, Emily, and Sarah with unconditional love and support. A great-grandmother to Gwen, Theo, and Owen whom she adored.
She was an avid gardener, sewer, a great cook and baker. Over the years she enjoyed camping trips with family and for the past 14 years she enjoyed spending the summers camping with their friends at Shriners Park in Eastport. Muriel will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Cremation has taken place. Burial to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to Park Avenue Cemetery Fence Fund, c/o Bethany United Church, 2 Church Street, Carbonear, NL, A1Y 1A9.
