MacLeod, Muriel Enid Toombs Donald – It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Muriel Enid Toombs Donald MacLeod on April 6, 2025. We rejoice that she is with Jesus, her Saviour.
Enid was born in Sea View, PEI. She was a daughter of the late Muriel (Toombs) and William C. Donald. Enid grew up on a farm and after high school, took a secretarial course in Summerside. She worked at Smallmans and Schurmans until she married the love of her life, Clair, in 1957. Together, they raised their boys on the farm in Long River. Later, they lived in Hunter River, PE, Duvernay and Huntingdon QC while Clair was serving as a Presbyterian Minister. Their last charge was in Truro, NS where they remained after retirement. Enid and Clair had 67 wonderful years together. Enid supported Clair throughout his ministry. Most recently, she was involved in The St. James Ladies Auxilliary, Atlantic Mission Society, and Monday Afternoon Fellowship. She quietly supported and served many people through phone calls, emails, cards, and often a home baking drop off. In her life she demonstrated the teaching of Jesus in Mark 9:35, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be the last of all and a servant of all.” Nanny loved to bake for her family and friends. She made beautiful quilts for our beds. She grew flowers and vegetables in her garden. Her home was always open for whoever needed her. Her faith in Jesus helped shape our lives.
Enid is survived by her sons, Brian, Kevin (Pam), Kent (Karen) and Kirk (Allyson); brother-in-law, Donald (Joni); sister-in-law, Anne Donald; as well as 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 4 nieces and all who called her Nanny. Enid had many friends who will miss her dearly.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Clair; infant son, Barry; daughter-in-law, Melanie; and brothers, George (Lillian) Donald, Boyd Donald; and mother- and father-in-law, Esther and Elmer MacLeod.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Arimathea Funeral Cooperative.
Funeral service will be held in St James Presbyterian Church, Truro, on Sunday, April 13 at 3:30 pm, Rev. Andrew Campbell officiating. The service will be live streamed. Reception to follow. Family flowers only. Interment at a later date at Geddie Memorial Cemetery, Springbrook, PEI.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. James Presbyterian Church General Fund or TREY (Trauma Recovery for Exploited Youth).
