Morris MacKinnon Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Morris Frederick MacKinnon, age 65, on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at his home. Born in North Sydney, September 17, 1959, Morris was the son of the late Frederick and Shirley (Banfield) MacKinnon. For the last number of years, he lived at a Group Home on Stacey Ave in North Sydney. He was a great collector of music that he enjoyed listening to and loved to travel around to various flea markets. Morris is survived by his sister; Heather (Donald) Stephenson, Sydney Mines, sister-in-law; Diane McKinnon, North Sydney, by his nieces; Cindy, Sabrina and Melissa, nephew; Gabe and established a close relationship with his caregiver and friend, Les MacLean and additional caregivers Deborah Fowlie Galpin, Adam Power, Lisa Murphy and Eileen Gouthro. He also leaves behind his two friends Murray Reid and James King. Besides his parents, Morris was predeceased by his brother Daniel McKinnon. Visitation for Morris will be held 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025 in the W. J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jackie Warren officiating. Burial at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
