It is with great sadness that the family announces her sudden passing on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the young age of 68 years. Daughter of the late Edouard and the late Clara (née Brunet) Rhéaume. Beloved wife of Gilles Goudreau.
Devoted mother of Shawna and Jessica (Luc). Dear sister of Lucille (late Léonard) and Robert (Marguerite). Predeceased by her siblings Jacqueline (late Omer), Lucien (Lorraine), and Pauline (late Pleeman). Cherished grandmother of Cédric. Equally missed by her nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Monique and Gilles ran a very successful restaurant/bar called Vermilion Lake Marina, which was known for her famous spaghetti sauce. Every Friday night, the restaurant hosted a spaghetti and wing night, which attracted many people. It was always packed on Friday nights; however, when the sauce was spicy, you knew why! Monique organized many events throughout the years at the Marina, such as the boat parade, Halloween night, euchre tournaments, porchetta bingos, New Year’s Eve parties, golfing on the ice, and fishing tournaments. She always had the best food. However, her favorite part was when she had the opportunity to sing her favorite song by Elvis, “Last Kiss,” with the live band. She had a great voice. Monique was a kind, gentle soul who always strived to put others ahead of herself and was always willing to help those in need. Monique’s life was a testament to resilience and selflessness. Despite facing health challenges, she never allowed them to define her. She met every obstacle with quiet determination and an unbreakable spirit, always pushing forward with grace and perseverance. Her hard-working nature was evident in everything she did, never giving up no matter how difficult the road became. But beyond her resilience, Monique will be remembered most for ensuring those around her felt seen, loved, and supported. She will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Shawna and Jessica, who were not only cherished but also had an amazing childhood. Monique gave them a life full of warmth, love, and treasured memories, ensuring they always felt safe, supported, and adored. She also leaves behind her beloved husband, her first and only love, with whom she shared many memories and adventures, side by side. Above all, Monique’s greatest pride and joy was her beloved grandson, Cédric. He was the light of her life, the reason she fought so hard, and the greatest gift she ever received. He was her “chérie d’amour,” as she would always call him. Her presence was a source of warmth and comfort, and her absence leaves an immeasurable void. Though she may no longer walk beside us, her love, strength, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the St. Joseph’s Church, Chelmsford. Donations by cheque or online to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
