Obituary of Milton Pyke
June 23, 1928 – April 6, 2025
Milton passed peacefully to his rest at the age of 96 on April 6, 2025. He was born on June 23, 1928 in North Sydney, NS, as the oldest of 13 children born to Henry and Christine Pyke.
Milton was the loving husband of Jean (predeceased in 2009), father to daughters Barbara (Brad) Scott, and Marilyn (Kevin) MacDonald, grandfather to Sarah (Brian) Cooper and Robert (Lauren) Scott, and great-grandfather to Arlo Cooper.
In 1960 Milton purchased his first home, an old log home in Beckwith, and also went back to trade school. As a bricklayer, he took pride in the many buildings and homes he built in the Carleton Place area over the years, until his retirement in 1993. Milton enjoyed spending time on the Mississippi Lake in his boat, fishing, swimming, or waterskiing with family and friends. He was an avid walker, and especially enjoyed walking with his dog, Brooke, in his later years.
A Celebration of Life, including a slide show and an opportunity for all attendees to share stories/memories, will be held on Sunday, May 4th at the Cole Funeral Home, Highland Park Cemetery, 2037 McGee Side Road, Carp. Visitation at 1 p.m. will be followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2 p.m.
Special thanks to the amazing staff at Waterside for their exceptional care, especially in Milton’s final weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation.
