It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Michelina Gross (nee Gauci) on Thursday, March 20th in her 87th year. Loving and devoted mother to Raymond Micallef, Shirley (Dale) Rogers, Michael Micallef (predeceased), and Rosalina Garofalo. Proud and beloved grandmother and great-grandmother to many, having a special relationship with her grandson whom she affectionately called “Vincey.”
Known to most as Lina, she was born to Joseph and Marianna Gauci in Rabat, Malta and one of fifteen children. Lina immigrated to Canada in 1958 at the age of 20, deciding to settle and raise her family here. She began work at a chocolate factory, then pursued working in Sales where she found great success. Selling various items throughout her career, many have said she could even “sell ice to Eskimos” with her charm and skill.
Lina enjoyed visiting the casino from time to time, sometimes even having her children bring her in her later years. Lina loved all kinds of music and could dance to anything she listened to. She also enjoyed a good shopping trip, often filling up the cart at Walmart – one of her favourite stores. Lina could be tough and feisty, but she was also well-spoken, and a loving and devoted mother to her dear children. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 28 at Innisfil Funeral Home, 7910 Yonge Street, Innisfil, from 11am until the time of service at 1pm in the Chapel. Interment to follow at Innisvale Cemetery, 7551 5th Side Road, Innisfil. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to: Heart & Stroke Foundation.
