It is with great heartbreak that we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” William Galaski, age 47, of Midland. Mike passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of March 14, 2025.
Mike is survived by his mother, Janet; his brother, Graham (Tasha); and his sister, Kirsten (B.J.). He will also be remembered as Uncle Mikey to Kassie, Freh, and Ethan. Mike’s godparents, Aunt Maryanne and Uncle Ron, also mourn his passing, as do his aunts and uncles: Bill, Debbie, and Pat. He is also remembered by his cousin Laurel and Aunt Sharon. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph, and his grandparents, Joe and Grace Galaski and Herman and Myrtle Snyders. Mike will be dearly missed by his many cousins, extended family, and friends.
Mike was born in Midland, Ontario, in 1977, and made the area his home for the remainder of his life. He developed a love for hockey, fishing, art, music and animals. Mike will be remembered by his friends and family for his interesting sense of humor and his desire to make everyone laugh.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Rick Henderson and his mother for their kindness and support toward Mike, Deacon Tim Dunlop for his visits to Mike in the hospital, Father Roselle, and the parish of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church for their spiritual support. Special thanks go to Skye, Damion, and Paul, his cherished friends. We are also appreciative of all those who cared for Mike over the years, including Harold and Pauline (owners of Best Lifestyles) and their staff, Dr. Veall and his team, his OSMH social worker, Tabatha, and the teams at GBGH, OSMH, and RVH. The family is deeply thankful for the dedication and care provided by the social workers and staff at Waypoint and Wendat. A special thank you to Laird and staff at the Coldwater Funeral Home.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church (Hugel Avenue, Midland) at 2:00 p.m. on Friday May 16, 2025. Interment will follow immediately at St. Margaret’s Cemetery (Yonge Street, Midland). Family and friends are invited back to St. Margaret’s Church for a luncheon in the basement.
Mike’s family is extremely grateful for the outpouring of support and love shown by friends, family, and the community during this difficult time. It is a testament to how deeply Mike was loved and cherished.
