Obituary of Michael John Poyser
In Loving Memory of Michael John Poyser
October 1, 1980 – February 9, 2025
Michael John Poyser was called home to his Lord and Savior on February 9, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Carrie-Ann Poyser and a devoted father to their children Lincoln, Devon, London, and Brierley. Michael is survived by his loving parents, Godfrey and Beverley Poyser, his sisters Anna Poyser, Leonie (Chris) de Waal, and Hayley Poyser, as well as his brothers Thomas (Rebekah) Poyser and Chris (Pam) Walker. He will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews and extended family, who all held a special place in his heart.
Born in Derbyshire, England, on October 1, 1980, Michael spent his early years on the family farm, where he cherished memories of helping his father with the chores and playing his beloved sport of football (soccer). In 1994, Michael and his family moved to Olds, Alberta, marking the start of their Canadian journey. The family later settled in Southern Alberta in 2003, where they became active members of Victory Church. It was at this church that Michael met Carrie-Ann, the love of his life. Their whirlwind romance began with a first date at Tim Hortons in October 2003, an engagement in New York that December, and a wedding by June of 2004. Together with their family they farmed and built a life, welcoming their first son, Lincoln, in 2007, followed by Devon in 2009.
With an entrepreneurial spirit, Michael and Carrie purchased an equestrian center, where they welcomed their daughter London in 2012. After several visits to the East Coast, Michael and Carrie made the decision to move to Nova Scotia in 2013, settling in the scenic Halls Harbour on the Bay of Fundy. There, Michael continued to follow his passion for farming, raising sheep, and enjoying life surrounded by nature. In 2015, their family grew once more with the arrival of their daughter, Brierley.
Michael’s love for his family was immeasurable, and he would do anything for his wife, children, family and friends. He was a kind, gentle, and deeply loving man whose memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His family and friends were truly his world, and his legacy will shine through in his four children, who will continue to reflect the incredible man he was.
Michael was predeceased by his grandparents, Eric and Marjorie Sherwood and Arthur and Mary Poyser. We find comfort in the thought that Michael is now in heaven, enjoying a Tim Hortons coffee and a Boston cream donut with his Grandad.
A Celebration of Life, for all who loved Michael and his family, will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 3:00pm at the Halls Harbour Fire Department. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of such a wonderful man. Though he may no longer walk among us, we will carry his memory in the sunsets, in the waves of the ocean, and in the eyes of his beautiful children, who will forever be a testament to the love and strength their father gave them. Until we meet again, Michael, we love you deeply. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS B4R 1B9 (902) 679-2822
