Following a brief illness, Mike passed away peacefully at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, in his 73rd year with his family by his side.
Cherished husband of Cheryl (née Seton) for 40 years. Loving dad of Samantha, Laura Lindsay (Quintin), and Sandra Hamilton. Also survived by his mother Doreen and sister Bonnie Mustard (late Bill). Predeceased by his dad Mike, his brother David, and mother and father-in-law Jean and Mike Seton. Mike will be greatly missed by his brothers-in-law Duncan Seton (Lydia) and Andrew Seton (Karen), many nieces and nephews as well as his extended family and friends.
Mike was a very proud retired Navy Clearance Diver and EOD Tech. He loved his time in the military and was sad to leave it behind. Following a varied and colourful work life, he eventually retired from Correctional Service of Canada.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Mike was passionate about firearms and the shooting sports. This led him to become a Firearms Safety Instructor with FSESO. He loved teaching and sharing his passion with new students, often mentoring them once they received their own licenses.
Mike was also a volunteer driver for VON and thoroughly enjoyed his short time with them. He enjoyed meeting many interesting VON clients.
Mike was charismatic and outgoing. He was quick to help everyone and seldom had a bad word to say. Everyone that was touched by having known Mike will miss his quick smile and contagious sense of humour.
A special thank you to the Doctors, nurses and support staff of KGH 2nd floor ICU, especially Loraine and Maripe. Also special thanks to neurology, Connell 10 & Connell 3 for the wonderful care given to Mike. Following Mike’s wishes, no Service will be held. Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations to VON Canada, Greater Napanee (Transportation Program) or the Ontario SPCA Lennox & Addington Centre would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Payne Funeral Home, 178 Main St., Odessa. Please share your memories and condolences to the family.
