Michael Wayne Adams, the husband of Sanda (Lance) Adams of Fredericton, New Brunswick, and formerly of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away on February 7, 2025, with family by his side, at Hospice House Fredericton in Fredericton, New Brunswick, at the age of 70.
Michael was the son of Dolores Winnifred (Deredin) Adams McDermaid and Harold Edwin Adams and was born on January 2, 1955, in Pembroke, Ontario.
Michael was known for his unfiltered honesty and great sense of humour, with a laugh that could light up any room. He had an impressive knowledge of pop culture and was a dedicated fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. A true music lover, Michael had a particular fondness for The Beatles. Their timeless tunes provided the soundtrack to many memorable moments in his life right up until his last breath.
Michael’s heart belonged to his family, especially his cherished grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and laughter. He loved sharing stories with them and was always ready with a playful tease or a funny anecdote. He leaves behind his sons, who will carry forward the lessons learned, and the love shared. Michael adored his wife, Sandra. Their 45 years together were filled with the ups and downs of life, but more importantly, it was filled with love and laughter. Their bond was evident to everyone around them. Michael will be remembered for his honesty, humour, and capacity to love and his spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
Michael is survived by his much-loved wife, Sandra; and his beloved sons, Shawn Lance (Jennifer) of Totteham, Ontario, Matthew Adams (Kathryn) of Truro, Nova Scotia, and Tyler Adams of Fredericton, New Brunswick; his grandchildren who were his world: Lucas, Meadow, Jaylynn, Vanessa, Vera, and the newest member of the Adams’ clan, baby Michael. He is also survived by his sister, Debi (Adams) Stark (Ed) of Winnipeg, Manitoba; his two brothers, Wayne Adams (Midge) of Ajax, Ontario, and Richard Lee Adams (Leslie) of Napanee, Ontario; and his uncle, Louis Galliah (Paula) of Miramichi, New Brunswick; and his many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews who will remember him fondly.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Dolores (Deredin) Adams McDermaid and Edwin Adams; his stepfather, William McDermaid; his brother, Harold Adams; his two aunts, Mary (Deredin) Martin and Catherine (Deredin) Trevors; and his two uncles, Raymond Deredin and Wilbur Deredin.
The family of Michael wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the friends and loved ones who offered their support over the years and during this difficult time. They would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice House Fredericton for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to our family during this difficult time. Their dedication and support made a profound difference in our lives, and we are forever grateful.
Visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Michael’s Basilica, 10 Howard St., Miramichi, on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 11 AM, with The Reverend Father Antonio Reyes as Celebrant. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, in memory of Michael and in honour of the outstanding care he received at Hospice House Fredericton, donations may be made to Hospice House Fredericton or a charity of the donor’s choice.
