“Michael” Reginald James McAleer
1955-2024
Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday,
December 16, 2024 of Michael R.J. McAleer of Charlottetown, age 69
years. Beloved son of the late Bertha (Embury) and Kenneth McAleer. He
is survived by his siblings Danny McAleer and Karen-Lynne Stewart and
families.
A man about town, Mike will be fondly remembered by a wide
circle of friends and acquaintances, who he regularly met at
coffee shops, social gatherings or in casual conversations with people
he met around town. A street musician, avid bingo player, enthusiast
of game shows and puzzles, fan of the Toronto Maple Leaf’s
and Blue Jays, connoisseur of motor bikes
and automobiles, aficionado of Old Home Week and the
Victoria Park boardwalk, Mike took an active interest and involvement
in the lives of the people around him. He was a co-founder
of PEI People First and a dedicated member of the board of
Prince Edward Island Citizen Advocacy.
Mike is especially mourned by close friends and advocates Ann
and Peter Bevan-Baker, Joan McDonald, Twilah Stone and his Grafton
House family.
No visitation or funeral service by personal request. A
celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment later in
the family plot in St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery, Seven Mile
Bay.
