It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of
Michael MacKay, who left us on January 3, 2025 at the age of 59. Born
on January 23, 1965, Michael lived a life full of passion, kindness
and love for his family and friends.
Michael was known for his unwavering generosity, infectious
sense of humor and his deep devotion to those he cared about. He had
an innate ability to bring people together and leave a lasting
impression on all who knew him. Whether through his professional
achievements, his commitment to the community, or his love of the
outdoors, Michael touched the lives of many in meaningful
ways.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Karen; daughters:
Jessica (Jorge) and Emily (Brandon); grandsons: Ashton and Zayden;
parents: Sharon and Jim Wright, Titusville, FL; sisters: Kim (Mark)
Rafuse and Cheryl McNamara (Danny); mother-in-law, Betty Fraser. He
will be missed by all his extended family, friends and all who had the
privilege of knowing him.
He was predeceased by parents, George (Claire) MacKay;
maternal grandparents: Garnet and Sylvia Wamback; paternal
grandparents: John and Elsie MacKay; “Mama” Yvonne
MacDonald; father-in-law, David Fraser.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on
Sunday, January 12, at the Hillside Community Hall, Chance Harbour
Road, from 1-4pm. Friends and family are invited to join in
remembering this remarkable man who will never be forgotten. In lieu
of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Sandbar
Endowment Fund c/o Aberdeen Health Foundation or Viola’s
Place Society Trust.
