VAN HOESEL, Michael John – Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, partner and friends on Thursday March 13, 2025 at the age of 62. Beloved father of Ryan Van Hoesel and Kim Van Hoesel, and dear brother of Corinne Hook and Stephen Van Hoesel. His absence will be profoundly felt by his partner Carry Sachse-Hodder. His loss will leave a lasting void for his children, the mother of his children – Pinky Clave, nieces, nephews and friends.
Michael, or ‘Mike’ as those around called him, always had a passion for discovery and adventure from the start, committing to a life of travel, learning about other cultures and making connections anywhere he went in the world. He placed a special emphasis on keeping contact with those he met and family abroad even with all the miles and time zones in between them, loving every catch-up he could get. There will be those thinking about him from all of his travels, from one continent to the next.
His appreciation of nature was particularly strong, feeling at peace whenever he could feel sunshine. Many will have wonderful memories and stories of Mike out in the edges of Newmarket, to the mountains of Hong Kong.
A wealth of knowledge and thoughtfulness has left with him, and we all will miss our time well spent with him.
Friends and family are invited to Morgan Funeral Home, 415 Regent Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake on Thursday March 20th, 2025 from 1 to 3PM with a Funeral Service at 3 pm. An additional visitation time will be in the evening from 7 to 9PM. The rite of committal will take place at St. John Cemetery in Newmarket on Friday March 21st, 2025 at 1PM.
