Obituary for Michael “Mike” F. Pattyn (August 17, 1950 – March 23, 2025)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Michael “Mike” F. Pattyn, on March 23, 2025, at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, at the age of 74. After a courageous battle with illness, Mike left us surrounded by family. Born in Tillsonburg, Mike was the beloved son of the late Paul Pattyn (1981) and Jose (nee Foutre/Pattyn) Van Hove (2022).
Mike was a devoted husband to his best friend and soulmate, Debbie (nee Sanders) Pattyn. Together, they raised a wonderful family and shared 35 years as business partners, operating Leisure Living Retirement Home in Jarvis.
A man with a great love for music, Mike was well-known for his ability to identify any song on the radio, often while cruising around in his beloved Thunderbird. He took great joy in attending concerts, enjoying his time by the lake, and could navigate the back roads with ease. In his quieter moments, Mike found peace in birdwatching and was an avid sports fan.
He will be deeply missed by his family. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Debbie, of Tillsonburg; his children, Jamie (Leanne), Mandy (Pat McMahon) and her sons Ethan and Matthew, R.J. and his daughter Allie, Josh, Tiffany and son William, all of Tillsonburg. Mike is also survived by his brother, Ron (Debbie), of Tillsonburg, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In accordance with Mike’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no formal service or visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at The Mill. Those who wish to honor Mike’s memory are invited to share their favorite stories, photos, or personal condolences on his online tribute page. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario through the website or by contacting Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes – Burial and Cremation Services Inc., 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg (519) 842-4238, who are entrusted with his cremation arrangements.
Mike will forever be in our hearts and his memory will live on through the love and laughter he shared with all who knew him.
