Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Melvin Wilfred Guinchard announce his passing on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025 at the Corner Brook Long Term Care at the age of 79 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his son: Paul Guinchard; grandson: Wilfred Blanchard; two great-grandchildren; sister: Anne Mitchell (Curtis); sisters-in-law: Phyllis Hutchings, Doreen Verge, and Lillian Verge; nieces: Esme, and Tracy Lenor; nephews: Dave, Byron, Boyd, Kelly, Brent, Farron, Sheldon, David, and Brian; special nephews; Dean Mitchell and Tony Caines (Trudy); as well as a large circle of other relatives, and many friends.
Melvin was predeceased by his wife: Daphne (2021); parents: Harriett and Wilfred Guinchard; mother and father-in-law: Esme and Howard Verge; brother-in-law: Barry Verge, and Leonard Verge; sister-in-law: Nina Caines (Mike), and Olive Blanchard (Winston); and his nephew: Wayne Caines.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no formal visitation or service to be held at this time. Services will take place in Portland Creek at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Melvin’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the CBLTC-4 South, especially Sherri and April, for their outstanding care and support shown to Melvin during his time of need.
