Melvin ‘Mel’ John Kreller of Clifford and formerly of Howick Township, passed away at Strathcona LTC, Mount Forest on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in his 104th year.
Husband of Helen (Morris) Kreller.
Father of Dorothy Stewart of Kitchener, John & Marg Kreller of Elmira, and Margaret Kreller & Kevin Kowal of Normanby Township.
Grandfather of Anna Kowal and Mary Kowal.
Brother of Anne Warnick of Tavistock.
Predeceased by his brothers Arnold Kreller and Bruce Kreller, and brother-in-law Melvin Warnick.
Melvin was born on July 2, 1922 to parents Henry and Sophia (Ortman) Kreller. The 2nd of 4 children, he was raised and farmed in Howick Township until he retired to Clifford in 1994. He married Helen Morris on September 19, 1959 and took over the family farm.
Mel always enjoyed getting together with family and friends as well as meeting new people and making new friends. He also enjoyed trips to Scotland and England and spending time with family and friends over there.
He will be missed.
His family would like to thank the staff at Strathcona Long Term Care in Mount Forest for looking after him this past year.
Visitation will be held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Monday, September 29th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
A private family interment service will be held at Howick Trinity Lutheran Cemetery followed by the funeral service on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Clifford at 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations to the Lutheran Hour, Leprosy Mission Canada, or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
