It is with great sadness but with utmost love that we share the passing of May Yan Lee on January 16, 2025, at the age of 97.
She was born on June 22, 1927, in the Yat Sun District of Taiping, Guangdong, China. Upon marrying her husband, Ned Lee, on February 29, 1949, she immigrated to Canada, on September 24, 1955, to settle in Edmonton, Alberta and raise their family.
May will be lovingly remembered by her family including son, John (Jean); four daughters: Susan, Linda Kimball (Kevin Hindahl), Nancy Poon (Larry) and Colleen Schmitz (Dominique); along with grandchildren: Christopher, Adam, Lindsay Der, Caitlin Der, Ryan Poon, Stephanie Poon and Julian Schmitz; as well as great-grandchildren, Nattie and Teddy Der Vasquez.
She was predeceased by her three brothers, George Lee, Sam Leong, and Tom Leong but is survived by a younger sister, Liana Leong who resides in Los Angeles, California.
May’s Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Connelly-McKinley Downtown Funeral Home (10011-114 St. NW Edmonton, AB), with Reception to follow at Beijing Beijing Restaurant (700-3803 Calgary Trail NW, Edmonton Alberta). Interment will take place at a later date.
