Lefebvre, Maurice Joseph
In loving memory of Maurice Lefebvre, 97 years of age, who passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 22, 2025, at Health Sciences North. He is survived by his devoted wife Lydia (nee Canapini) of 67 years, son Robert (Kelly), and daughter Maurica (Daniel). He will be deeply missed by his four grandchildren, Taylor (Samantha) and Andrew Lefebvre, and Matthew and Caraline MacDonald. Born and raised in Sudbury, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marie Lefebvre and is survived by his siblings Eric (Denise), Rita, and Adrienne and is predeceased by his siblings Jeanne, Emile, Carmen, and Vince. He was brother-in-law to the late Robert Canapini (Lydia).
Maurice served during the Second World War and returned home to Canada to pursue a career in the trades, later moving into public health with the Sudbury and District Health Unit. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and canoeing throughout Ontario. Upon his retirement, Maurice & Lydia moved to Lake Wanapitei, where they enjoyed 35 years. He was keenly interested in world politics, history, and geography and loved engaging with others on these topics. Maurice will be remembered for his vibrant storytelling, quick wit. and humor. He lived a full and rewarding life.
The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Natalie Goodale for her compassionate and unwavering care over the years.
At Maurice’s wishes a private family service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Health Sciences North – Acute and Reactivation Care Centre, The Sudbury Foodbank, or the Canadian Cancer Society (Sudbury branch) would be appreciated.
