Matthew James Stewart Chouinard (Harron)
It is with broken hearts that we share the news of Matthews passing on 28-01-2025. Matthew is the loving son of his parents, Kim and William Harron, beloved brother and best friend to Christopher Chouinard and Lydia Harron. Matthew also leaves behind his precious cat Zelda. Matthew is the cherished nephew to Debbie (Blair) Hannam- (Bridgetown Nova Scotia) Lynne (Terry) McDevitt (St John New Brunswick) and Jody McCoppen Leduc, Alberta. Special cousin to Terri Gabbatt and Andrew Hannam, Amiee McDevitt-Rueckwald, Christy Hinse and Douglas McCoppen. Matthew is predeceased by his grandparents Donald and Jean Whittaker and William Sr and Judy Harron, his Uncle, David McCoppen and his cousins Timothy and Jennifer McDevitt.
Matthew was born in Chatham on January 22, 1987 and he loved all of God’s creatures, right down the tiniest insect. He believed all animals and insects had a role to play in the balance of the environment. To know Matthew was to love him as he left such an impression on everyone he met. Matthew loved to fish, read, game, watch movies as well as traveling. He loved to play guitar, playing in a band in college called Chainsaw Armada . He also was a very talented artist attending school for animation prior to moving to Albert where he lived and worked. Matthew decided to return to University and follow in his mothers footsteps and become a nurse, moving back home to Chatham in 2020 . Matthews dream was to do travel nursing one day as a paediatric nurse Matthew was finishing his second year of University when he was diagnosed with metastatic stage 4 cancer. In true Matthew style he faced his diagnosis head on, shoulders back and standing tall as he fought for his life. As strong as Matthew was, cancer still took his life in the end. Matthew passed away peacefully at Hospice with his family, friends and his kitty Zelda by his side.
Matthew has requested no funeral , so a celebration of Matthew’s life will be held on February 8th, 2025 at Life Transitions, 397 McNaughton Ave West Chatham from 1-3
We would like to send a heartfelt thank you to his Nurse Jodie from Bayshore, Olga and Virginia from the PCCT team at Ontario Health at Home and to the amazing staff at Hospice who cared for Matthew so well and spoiled him rotten in the week he was there.
We also would like to thank DR David Huffman, and the DR’s and Nursing staff of ER, ICU PCU as well as my work Family at Ontario Health at Home who supported us every step of the way. Words alone can not express my love and gratitude to you all. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Chatham Kent Hospice.
May Matthews Soul rest in peace and enjoy the fullness of gods love and mercy. In Gods name we pray.
Amen
