It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Mom, Isabelle James on March 12th at the age of 85, surrounded by her loving family. She was a strong woman but her strength to the end was impeccable. She was a woman of good faith and was beyond loved by so many.
She is predeceased by her parents Alfred and Mary Agnus O’Leary, parents in law William and Gertrude James; sons Gerry and Joey; sisters Helen (Jess), Francis, Mary and Pauline; brothers Wayne and Joseph; brother-in-law Frank.
Left with many loving memories, her husband Ed James; cherished children Cathy, Eddie (Bev), Barry (Debbie), Basil (Marie); and daughter-in-law Gloria. Her amazing sisters forever and always by her side, Kay Dunne and Anne Hayward; sisters-in-law Lucella James and Collette Phelan; her precious grandchildren Ricky, Melissa, Matthew, Matt, Marcus, Michael, Christian, Benjamin, Chris, Renee, Allison, Joshua and Jessica. Her great-grand children who she adored Madden, Raegan, Reese, Connor, Thomas, Emily, Parker, Jillian, Ethan, Wyatt, Sarah Jane, Mya, James, Rylan and Jayden. Additionally left to mourn are special friends Johnny Sydell (Colleen) who faithfully brought her Tim’s; Art Cameron, Mildred Ward, Emmie Hartery along with too many more friends and family to mention.
Belle (also known as Nanners) enjoyed a successful hardworking career at the Village Mall. She was known for her funny jokes, her contagious laugh and would always make you smile. She was kind, humble and generous to anyone who was lucky to know her. She loved to chat on the phone, go to Tim Hortons, concerts and made the best gravy.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Health Science Emergency as well as the staff at Chancellor Park and Ruby Manor for taking such great care of her. She resided with her caring and loving son Barry (Debbie) before going to the care homes.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John’s Newfoundland on Wednesday, March 19 from 1-4, and 6-9. Funeral mass at a later date at Holy Redeemer Catholic Parish in Trepassey, please check back for exact date and time.
In lieu of flowers donations in her memory can be made to the Newfoundland Lung Society, Kids Eat Smart Foundation or The Children’s Wish Foundation.
