Mary Catherine Helyar Obituary
The family of Mary Catherine (Savard) Helyar sorrowfully wish to announce her passing, which occurred on March 5, 2025, in Saint John, NB. Born in Saint John, NB, on April 3, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Charles and Bernice (Crowley) Savard.
Catherine enjoyed music and loved to sing. She and Alain spent several years in Fort McMurray where they made many friends. She was a devoted animal lover. Her favorite hobbies were horse racing, flea markets and bingo.
She is survived by her daughter Tina Byers (Chris), former husband Alain Helyar, brothers; Jimmy (Emma), Richard, Ronald (Jackie), her sisters, Margaret DeFazio and Jane Lewis, her grandchildren; Alex and Megan Gallagher, Corey and Jason Byers, Christopher Gallagher, great-granddaughter Blair Craigie, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son Paul Gallagher, daughters, Sherry and Susan Gallagher, brothers, Bobby and Tony, sister, Theresa Sew, and grandson Randall Gallagher.
At her request, following cremation, there will be an Interment Service at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at 10:30AM on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Remembrances made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
