CONLIN, MARLENE
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marlene Inez Conlin (née McCue) at the age of 85.
Marlene was predeceased by her husband Dale Conlin, her parents William (Bill) and Inez McCue, and her sister Shirley Oakes. Marlene was the loving mother of David (Sue), Mark (Lesley), Sandra Birnie (Stephen) and Steven (Kim Robinson). Number 1 Gramma to Madison (Randy), Lucy, Lindsay, Alison, Mary, Turner, Ella, and Fiona. Great-gramma to Wyatt and Otis. Marlene will be missed by her sisters Margaret McCue (Bill Bromley), Linda Hodgkinson (Dale Hodgkinson), and Doris McCue (George Ball).
Marlene grew up on the family farm in Rideau Ferry. After high school she graduated from the Ottawa Civic Hospital as a Registered Nurse. Marlene and Dale first settled in Kemptville, then moved to the Maynard area where Dale taught school and Marlene worked at the Brockville General Hospital for many years. Marlene enjoyed spending time with her sisters, children, and grandchildren. She showed her love and pride by never missing a sporting or school event for the grandkids. Mom was famous for her apple pies, Hershey cakes, and chocolate chip cookies, all served with some good conversation.
A special thank you goes out to Greg Beach for being such a great neighbour and friend to Mom and Dad through the years. We always felt comforted that you were nearby keeping an eye on things.
