Mark Dwaine Killen
1961-2025
Mark Dwaine Killen, 63, of Hillsborough passed away on
February 27th, 2025 at the Moncton Hospital with his family
by his side. He was born in Hillsborough on July 23rd, 1961
the son of the late Dwaine and Doris (Milton) Killen.
Mark grew up in Hillsborough and graduated from Caledonia
Regional High School. After he graduated he went to work for
IT Administration at Medavie Blue Cross where he stayed for 40 years.
He grew up close to his cousins and together they had great
times growing up. He married his best friend, Beth, and was
so proud of the fact he had one true love and spent his life with
her. He had a small immediate family but became a member of
Beth’s family, the Church’s and thought of them all as his
own. He and Beth raised their children, Zachary and Abigail
and they were his pride and joy. Mark enjoyed hockey and was
a coach in Hillsborough for many years and was also a referee. He was
a real fixture in the Hillsborough Arena and was
well known. He was a member of the Surrey Valley Baptist
Church. He had a passion for motorcycles and especially
enjoyed travelling all over the Maritimes on his Harley. He
and Beth made many memories on the bike and enjoyed going with fellow
bikers and going to events like Atlanticade. He enjoyed
hunting and fishing and just being in nature. When you
talked with Mark, he felt so grateful for the life he has
had. His main goal in life was to be a good husband and
great dad and he surpassed this goal if you ask his family. ” He
was The Best”. He was always there for them in good times and bad
and they always could count on him for anything they may have
needed. He had a book where he wrote his most important
moments in his life and he added his last moose hunt with his son
Zachary in 2024 and going fishing with him. Also watching his
daughter’s graduation from MUN and her figure skating
events. Abigail’s first solo ride on her
own motorcycle, was a proud moment for Mark to share together with his
daughter. He enjoyed being with Beth travelling to Cuba, PEI,
Alberta or just being together anywhere in the world as long as they
were together. He felt like the best thing he did in his life was give
his heart to his best friend and together they
created a beautiful little family with a very close
bond. He was so happy that his son found his own special
person and Zachary and Sylvie also have that special
bond.
“Family is not an important thing,
it’s everything.”
He will be deeply missed by his best friend and wife, Beth
(Church) Killen; his son Zachary Killen (Sylvie) of Elgin; daughter,
Abigail Killen of Saint John; His in-laws, Linda Smith (Philip) of
Edgett’s Landing, Wanda Marsh (Darel) of Riverview, Barbara Robblee

Killen of Annapolis Valley, NS; his cousins, Herbie, Brenda,
Caroline, Debbie, Dean, Larry and Tim. He will also be
missed by several nieces and nephews on the Church’s side and by his
close friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Natalie; Aunt

There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service to
Celebrate his life will be held at the Surrey Valley Baptist
