Marilyn Rebecca Cameron Obituary
CAMERON, Marilyn Rebecca (nee Jeffrey)- It is profound sadness that the family of Marilyn announces her peaceful passing on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Brierwood Gardens Retirement Home after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, at the age of 84 years. Marilyn was born in Hamilton on July 28, 1940, to Maude and John Jeffrey, and in 1955 the family moved to Brantford. Marilyn is now reunited with her beloved husband Vic Cameron. The two were married in 1962 and celebrated 45 wonderful years of marriage until Vic’s passing in 2007. Loving mother to Andrew of Brantford and Scott (Chantel) of Calgary. Adored Grammy of Kaelan and Kyean of Brantford, and adoring Gramma of Alexander and Lennox of Calgary. She took such pride in her grandchildren; in her eyes they could do no wrong. Marilyn will be fondly remembered by her siblings Audrey Harris (nee Jeffrey), and Dr. Thomas John Gordon Jeffrey. She will also be missed by her sisters-in-law Wilma Cameron, Marda Jeffrey and Nancy Jeffrey, her nieces Stefany Cameron, Ann Cameron, Allison Cameron and Lorraine Jeffrey, and her nephews Chad Harris, Gregory Harris, Yasar Ismail, Ian Jeffrey, John Jeffrey and Mark Jeffrey. Predeceased by her brother Kenneth Jeffrey, her brothers-in-law Alex Cameron and Kenneth Cameron. Marilyn worked at Bell Canada for 10 years, working her way up from operator to the secretary for the plant manager. Following her career at Bell Canada, Marilyn and Vic purchased The Flint and Feather Gift Shop on Hwy 53, and they successfully ran the business for 20 years. Marilyn who always enjoyed keeping busy, took her retail expertise and went on to work part- time for Nymans Ladies Wear, Sternes Gift Shop, and Harvey Smith’s Drugstore until 1984 when Marilyn shifted her focus to helping her husband Vic build their own home in Brantford. Marilyn had a passion for cooking and entertaining friends and family, and she loved to play her organ for people. Marilyn got so much enjoyment out of gathering with the people she loved. Marilyn also enjoyed spending time gardening. To Marilyn’s special friend Barbara Foxall, a great big hug goes out to you for all your kindness and your willingness to help Marilyn whenever she asked. Your friendship meant so much to her. A sincere and heartfelt thank you to the staff of Brierwood Gardens Retirement Home, and the VON staff for their excellent care and compassion during Marilyn’s stay. She was very happy and content with everyone at the home. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Road N. Brantford in the Hospitality Suite from 1-4 p.m. with memories to be shared at 2 p.m. A private family interment to take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Brant County SPCA, Brantford Food Bank, Parkinson’s Society or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
