Marilyn MacKey passed away on a sunny Sunday morning surrounded by family on April 27, 2025, at the age of 91 at Bluewater Health. Born in Sarnia, September 11, 1933 and was predeceased by her parents Arthur Thomas and Margaret Taylor. On May 3, 1952, she married the love of her life, Howard V. MacKey in Sarnia. They had a loving life together with their seven children: Deborah (the late Bob Leslie), Sharon (Vic Perdeaux), Brenda (Don Smith), Barry (Isabell), Helena (Sean Doherty), Lisa, and Carole. Affectionately known as Little Grandma to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Mom loved to garden, knit, crochet, and could always be found sitting outside enjoying the sunshine. Mom loved to bake. She made the best date squares and shortbread cookies. Marilyn is predeceased by her husband Howard (2013), step-mother Shirley (Baker) Thomas and two grandsons Keith and Kevin MacKey. Mom will be greatly missed but to know that she is free from that terrible disease of dementia and reunited with dad gives us peace and comfort. The family would like to thank Dr. E. Gamble, Dr. Lilly, and the staff at Bluewater Health, especially PSW’s Lisa, Miranda, Nicki, and Renee. Marilyn will have a graveside service in Lakeview Cemetery on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Sarnia Lambton, in hopes that one day we can find a cure for this horrible disease (cheques only at the funeral home, please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
