Marilyn Joan Wilson (nee Agar)
March 14,1943 – March 2, 2025
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Wilson on March 2, 2025 at Southlake Regional Hospital just shy of her 82nd birthday.
Joan married the love of her life John in March of 1959 and together in the town of Creemore they raised 4 children that then became 8 children as she loved her daughter and son in laws like they were her own. Tim & Brenda, Lynne & Wayne Somerville, Mike & Connie, Jane & Steve Sage. Their love and commitment to each other for over 66 years was the role model we all looked up to and strive every day to emulate. Joan was the most loved and adored grandma by Danny (Nadine), Scott (Jannel), Johnny (Noël), Amanda (Andrew), Peter (Crystal), Jorie (Koady), Amy (Brad H), Brad (Amy). Joan cherished every moment she had with her great grandchildren Kaysen, Tait, Ben, Clark, Ella, Dawson & Charley. Family meant the world to Joan and she created many memories of time spent with her parents Elwood & Elsie (Norris) Agar, in-laws Vern & Annie (Sharpe) Wilson, brothers Stan (Shirley), Kinnard (Gladys), and sister-in-law Nancy (Barry Crawford). Joan considered her many friends to be family as well and valued them greatly.
Joan had many passions and among those were the love of travelling, learning new things, spending summers at their cottage at Lady Evelyn Lake with family and friends but her biggest passion was crafts of which she was extremely talented. There was nothing she couldn’t do. We will always remember her as the intelligent, humble, funny, feisty, determined, hardworking, talented, kind Amazing person she was and are so truly blessed to have had the opportunity to have her in our lives. We will hold our cherished memories in our hearts until we meet again.
Our heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, surgical team and nurses in the cardiac health and CCICU of Southlake Hospital for their unparalleled care for Joan and her family.
Cremation arrangements entrusted to the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home, 7313 Highway 26, Stayner. A celebration of life in Joan’s memory will be held on Saturday April 5, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Creemore Legion Hall, 27 Wellington Street West, Creemore. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joan to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Southlake Regional Health Centre – Cardiac Care Unit or the Simcoe County Museum would be appreciated by the family.
