It is with great sadness that the family of Marie Cook, age 94, announce her passing on January 25, 2025. Mom passed away peacefully with numerous family members by her side.
Predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Arthur; her sisters Patricia, Regina and Barbara; and her brothers Harold, James and John.
Leaving to mourn, sons Arthur (Elaine), Douglas (Mary), David (Michelle) and Stephen (Maxine); brothers Ronald, Robert and Brendan; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of friends.
Marie was born to James and Mary Walsh and grew up on Chapel Street in downtown St. John’s. She had a long and fruitful life, raising a family and managing a successful career over 40 plus years. She made many close friends, in particular, the “Club” girls, Woolworth’s and Ultramar colleagues, and the Mount Pearl Seniors Association.
Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 29th and Thursday, January 30th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
Funeral service will be at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Friday, January 31st at 11 AM.
Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Topsail Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
